Solukhumbu is the land of mountains situated on the northern side of Nepal on the laps of the Himalayas.

REACHING SOLUKHUMBU

Solukhumbu lies in the edge of the country and the complex topography of the place makes it a bit difficult to reach the place. If you are international tourist, you should first take air ticket to Kathmandu and again take another flight to lukla airport, Solukhumbu. Beside lukla, there are other three airports. It is a regional airport so you can't get direct flight outside the country.

If you are a international tourist, you should get visa easily for Nepal. Depending upon your passport strength, you may get visa-on-arrival. You should check that online manually.

Reaching Solukhumbu by bus is a bad idea. Due to the complex topography, roads are bad and chances of accident is actually considerable.

ACOMODATION

There are hundreds of small hotels and lodges in Namche Bazar, Lukla etc. Most of the hotels are small and they barely meet the international standards. Solukhumbu actually lies in the remote areas of the country, Nepal. Most of the tourists prefer camping in Solukhumbu rather than hotels.
Thousands of tourists from India, Bhutan, America, South America come to Solukhumbu to get the extreme taste of camping at the roof of the world.

FOOD

Foods like dhido, aalu, dal, bhat, etc are very popular which are typical Nepali dishes. The majority of the food there are steamed instead of baked or fried. Junk foods like noodles, potato chips, chowmein are very popular but eating too much is unhealthy and may ruin your health.

COST OF LIVING

The cost of living in Solukhumbu is too much higher than the places in rest of the country. All the items including food, machineries, groceries, etc are supplied from the outside. The food production is bare because most part is covered with snow and rest is rocky.

The flight tickets may cost you $100+ bucks depending upon the vendor you choose and your entry airport. Hotel prices start from $10 and up depending upon the hotel and facilities they provide.

There are various activities that are popular in Solukhumbu. Some of them are pointed below.

I) Mountaineering

Since this is the place of mountain, mountaineering is the most popular activity for tourists around the globe. Yearly, thousands of people climb the mountain for the sake of their dream and some people climb tp break the records set.

It is very dangerous to climb Mt. Everest if you don't have proper training and experience in mountaineering.

II) Camping

This is another popular activity in Solukhumbu. People want to get the true taste of nature by camping in Solukhumbu at that high altitude. The weather is very cold throughout the year due to the altitude which is very favourable for camping. We do not suggest you to camp during winter since the chance of snow fall is high and very heavy snowfall takes place.

III) Trekking

If you are not a professional mountaineer and still want to see the Everest, you can trek up to the base camp of the Everest which is a great expedition.
